Wine is one of the few commodities that can improve with age but it can also rapidly deteriorate if kept in inadequate conditions.

WINES NEEDS TO BE PROTECTED FROM

1. TEMPERATURE

The temperature at which a wine is served is important, and it is worth spending a few moments thinking about it. The old age of serving white wines chilled and red wines at room temperature is a useful starting point, although not nearly detailed enough. A wine served a little too cold or a little too warm can lose an awful lot of character, particularly with respect to aroma.

Wine needs a constant temperature all year round to mature. Fluctuations in temperatures can damage your wines.

2. VIBRATIONS

Vibrations damage some components in the wine. If the wine is disturbed regularly every day for a few hours, some components can not express their quality and therefore the wine can’t mature. A fridge is not a suitable place to keep wine as vibrations will destroy some of its components.

Our units are vibration free. Therefore there is no movement on your wines, and you can store wine over long periods.

3. LIGHT

UV of the sun can destroy tannins in our wines, some bottles are darker toned to protect the wine from the sun, for these reasons

All our units has UV protection on our glass door’s and protects your wines from the sun.

4. HUMIDITY

Protect wine from too much or too little humidity

Wine needs to mature in a place with a hygrometry of 70 to 80%. The hygrometry is the level of humidity: the percentage of water in the air. When the room is too dry or too humid, the wine can not mature.

If the humidity is too low:

The cork can dry out. Even if the bottle is properly stored on its side in order to keep the cork moist. This could let oxygen into the wine – a rare occurrence, but still something to protect your wines against.

If the humidity is too high:

Above 80% it can damage the cork and create mouldiness around the cork that can affect your wine. High humidity can also damage your labels, which will affect the resale of your bottles.

Our wine cooler maintains a constant level of hygrometry.
